Anatomy of great basketball player

DOWNLOAD BASKETBALL CAMP BLUEPRINT

Step-by-step checklist for starting, marketing and running successful basketball camps.

Do you think being skilled makes up a great basketball player? Unfortunately, lots of parents and players use this as their sole criteria.

The truth is this is wrong!

After coaching 20+ years, I’ve found that great players excel in the following 5 areas:

  1. Skill
  2. High basketball IQ
  3. Selfless
  4. Floor general
  5. Lead by example

Skill:
Player has super-strong basketball fundamentals.

High basketball IQ:
Player not only knows their playbook responsibilities, but everyone else’s, as well.

Selfless:
Player has mindset to always lookout for other teammates over self.

Floor general:
When actively playing, player is the coach on floor (instructing and helping others, when necessary).

Lead by example:
Be a model player that coach can point to as an example of excellence.

When I come across a player with these attributes, I’m drooling all over myself.

These are the players coaches use to build long-term, successful programs.
