Step-by-step checklist for starting, marketing and running successful basketball camps.

It’s taken me a minute, but I’ve figured out how to maintain a successful basketball training academy. To do so, you must be clear on three (3) things:

  1. Offerings
  2. Effective Implementation
  3. Marketing System

Offerings:

It’s not ok to offer random basketball camps. By doing so, you effectively don’t have an overall strategy. Instead, create a suite of offerings that play off each other.

By approaching your offerings in this manner, you’re creating an ongoing (and residual) revenue stream. Once customer (or kid) completes an offering (or basketball camp), the next logical step is to consume the next. This is what makes your business model residual.

Effective Implementation:

You can have the best offerings in the world, but if implementation is shabby, you won’t be in business very long.

For us (at Youth Hoops Basketball Camps), the coach-to-camper ratio should be no more than 1-to-8. In addition, our focus is on fundamental, basketball skill development, character enrichment, discipline, and fun!

There is no right or wrong way, but this approach has been extremely effective for us over the last 13 years (grossing millions of dollars).

Marketing System:

The biggest, off-court contributor to our success has been our email marketing. It makes up at least 60% of our total revenues.

Simply put, email marketing allows you to easily communicate with others, who have expressed interest in your offerings.

Every piece of marketing material we create attempts to get potential customer’s email address. This is critical given most prospects will never purchase from you on first exposure. But with ongoing and continued nurturing via email marketing, the prospect’s chances of purchasing something from you significantly increases.

Email marketing not only allows you to communicate your offerings, but it also allows you to provide valuable content (about basketball, life, wisdom, etc.). This gives parents a window into your mind, and “softens” them up such that they’re more open to doing business with you.

By being clear on these 3 things (offerings, effective implementation, and marketing system), I feel like a kid in a candy store. Success will run rampant.

No one else in my area is doing this! We’re profiting big and making a huge impact in the community. If I can do this, you can too!

By reply, tell me what you think.
